Poetry: I dream a world

I dream a world where man

no other man will scorn,

Where love will bless the earth

And peace its paths adorn

I dream a world where all

Will know sweet freedom’s way,

Where greed no longer saps the soul

Nor avarice blights our day.

A world I dream where black or white,

Whatever race you be,

Will share bounties of the earth

And every man is free,

where wretchedness will hang its head

And joy, like a pearl,

Attends the needs of all mankind

Of such I dream, my world!

-Langston Hughes

Poetry: Teachers

Paint their minds

and guide their thoughts

share their achievements

and advise their faults.

Inspire a love

of knowledge and truth

As you light the path

which leads our youth.

For our future brightens

with each lesson you teach

Each smile you lengthen

Each goal you help reach.

For the dawn of each poet

each philosopher and king

Begins with a teacher

And the wisdom they bring.

-Kevin William Huff

Poetry: Believe in yourself

Believe in yourself and in

your dream

Though impossible

things may seem

Someday, somehow

you’ll get through

To the goal you have in view

Mountains fall and sees divide

Before the one who in his stride

Take a hard road day by day

Sweeping obstacles away

Believe in yourself and

in your plan

say not – I cannot – but, I can

The prizes of life we fail to win

Because we doubt the

power within.
